- Read Part 4, Chapter 14, pg. 115 in your textbook, A Guide to Public Speaking. While reading “Motivate the Audience to Accept Your Goals” on page 115, pay attention to how speakers can convey what the audience stands to gain by the information you will be sharing with them.
- Think about how people pay attention to things that affect them directly. Therefore, as a speaker we must always relate the topic to the audience.
Write
- For this discussion choose a
minimum of two speech topics below. Keep in
mind that audiences will ask themselves “why should I care”…..about
whatever topic presented. An
audience link answers that question.
So, in this discussion,
create an “Audience Link” for the topics you
have chosen. Explain specifically, how you can relate the
topic to your classmates in the introduction of the speech.
Remember that audience links don’t need to be long
explanations. With a few sentences explaining to your
classmates why they should care…
